Bilbo gets tangled up in Middle Earth throughout the film where he goes from Hobbit to something else, be it Elf, Dwarf or Wizard.
We all have those things, but we can't live for them alone. Then, Frodo was fortunate to receive Elves, something he had been looking for, a home, but one that was not his own and certainly not his innermost desire. And through the adventures of Bilbo, he finds that home that he had been looking for, that everything he had been looking for was in fact his own home.
